Charles County’s ENOUGH Initiative Moves Forward With New Funding

LifeStyles of Maryland will continue leading a community-wide effort to create brighter futures for children and families in Charles County.

The State of Maryland has awarded LifeStyles a third year of funding through the ENOUGH Initiative, with LifeStyles continuing to serve as the Community Quarterback for the Dr. Samuel A. Mudd Elementary School community in Waldorf.

The award is part of a record $32 million investment announced by Governor Wes Moore to support 30 ENOUGH communities across 13 Maryland counties. The initiative is designed to reduce childhood poverty and increase economic mobility through community-led solutions that address the root causes of economic hardship.

For LifeStyles and its partners, the new funding means an opportunity to build on the foundation already taking shape in Charles County.

Over the past year, LifeStyles has brought together residents, parents, educators, nonprofits, government agencies and other community partners to better understand the challenges facing local families — and the strengths and resources that already exist within the community.

Through focus groups, community feedback, local data and asset mapping, those voices are helping shape a shared roadmap for what comes next. Rather than imposing solutions from outside, ENOUGH puts residents at the center of identifying priorities and creating lasting change.

Now, that work continues.

As Community Quarterback, LifeStyles will continue convening partners, coordinating resources and helping turn the community’s shared vision into action.

It is an approach built on a simple idea: no single organization can end generational poverty alone. Across Maryland, ENOUGH has already brought together more than 600 organizations, while engaging more than 30,000 residents in developing community action plans.

And here in Charles County, we are proud to be part of what comes next.
