Homeless Services
Our Mission
LifeStyles’ Homeless Services division connects homeless individuals and families with available resources in the organization and community, with the ultimate goal of leading them to more permanent housing options. Staff conduct weekly street outreach, oversee the Homeless Services Center, provide homeless certification for persons to receive benefits and mail, and oversee the Safe Nights program.
LifeStyles’ Homeless Services Center provides the following free on-site support for Charles County’s homeless individuals:
- Laundry services once per week
- Daily showers
- “Anytime” meal bags
- Mailing address
- Vital records documentation
- Warming and cooling station
- Transportation services
- Phone and internet access, and phone charging station
- Clothing and accessories
- Employment and housing searches
- Advocacy and case management
Before receiving these services, persons must be certified as homeless. Persons can meet with a LifeStyles’ representative to discuss their needs and how we can best assist them. The street outreach team works tirelessly, canvassing the community to communicate with those that are homeless, providing them with various items they may need, but encouraging them to work with LifeStyles to find and secure more permanent housing. For persons who are homeless, Rapid Rehousing funding is provided to assist them with obtaining more permanent housing.Items are needed year-round to support this effort.
