Community Assistance Programs
Our Community Assistance Programs are designed to complement existing resources available through the county and other local organizations, as well as to fill in the gaps wherever they exist.
By working together to connect those in need with every opportunity to improve their lives — or to simply get through the day — we are bringing them one step closer to the transformation they so desperately need.
See below for an overview of the many programs and resources available to individuals and families in Southern Maryland.
Health & Wellness
We take a holistic approach to health and wellness, including outreach, education, medical screenings and vaccine coordination.

Homeless Services
We provide frequent street outreach, helping connect homeless individuals and families with essential resources, emergency shelter and coordination of available services.

Housing Services
We offer a range of emergency, transitional and permanent housing services in a structured environment where activities such as chores, budgeting and life skills development are part of the program.

Human Services
We create a single point of access to deliver emergency financial assistance, benefits, workforce development training and more to help individuals and families achieve self-sufficiency.

Community Partners Program
We enlist the volunteer support of local professionals to assist those in need in areas such as career and family development, legal services, mentorship, mediation and more.

Supportive Services
We provide basic safety net items, including food, clothing and hygiene essentials to benefit the homeless and underserved in our communities.

Charles County Cares Cabanas
To make it easier to access food during the pandemic, we’ve worked with End Hunger in Charles County to set up Cabanas throughout the area where non-perishable meal bags and groceries are available several days each week.

Tax Services
We work with trained professionals and volunteers to coordinate free tax preparation services for low-income individuals and families.

Transportation Services
We subsidize transportation to help those in need get to our office or other local agencies, as well as reaching the grocery store, medical appointments and other essential destinations.
