Forty deserving women in Southern Maryland received a significant “hand up” on Tuesday as they strive to pursue stability, productive employment and a brighter future.

The Heart of Cabi Foundation, the charitable arm of the popular fashion line, is dedicated to serving and empowering women in need. The group selected LifeStyles of Maryland as one of 60 nationwide nonprofits that share this commitment to service.

At the College of Southern Maryland on Tuesday, the foundation treated and pampered 40 women selected by LifeStyles of Maryland as deserving recipients.

Each woman received five new pieces of clothing. They also received new undergarments, shoes, a handbag, scarves, jewelry and decorative gift boxes. Stylists were available to help select clothes and accessories to match their size and style. These items can play a critical role in helping to boost the confidence of these ladies.

Chick-fil-A provided breakfast and the Zonta Club of Charles County provided lunch for all the participants as they took these important steps to prepare themselves for the next chapter.

“Women selected have gone through many trials and are continuing to survive,” LifeStyles of Maryland CEO Sandy Washington said. “To have these groups, spearheaded by Margie Earnshaw and Ann Rees, put their resources and time into pampering these women will make a positive impact on their lives.”

LifeStyles would like to thank the many individuals, businesses and organizations that helped make this day possible, including:
