Transportation for Southern Maryland

Over the last three years, LifeStyles has been fortunate to provide transportation to Calvert and Charles County residents, without any cost to the client. This is due to the support from various donors and available funding to support those impacted by the pandemic. To maintain the sustainability of services provided, we must return to a subsidized transportation program, where all riders are expected to financially support the cost of their ride.

These changes are effective February 5th, 2024.

As part of this process, people may be required to complete a new application and show proof of income to determine eligibility to receive subsidized transportation. Persons eligible to participate in this program are low-to moderate income individuals whose household income is no more than 300% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Available transportation services include:

Senior Rides
Subsidized transportation is provided to seniors age 60 and above to necessary medical or employment activities, grocery shopping, prescription pick-up, etc.

Shuttle
LifeStyles offers free shuttle service to assist Charles County clients getting to and from our La Plata office, the local Department of Social Services, and the transportation access points. Other shuttle services can be offered to assist persons getting to and from various community and social resources.

Southern Maryland RIDES
This program provides Southern Maryland residents with subsidized transportation to medical and employment-related activities throughout the D.C. region.

Contracted Services
LifeStyles can assist with other gap-filling services and has partnerships with other programs to ensure transportation is not a barrier to receiving services.
