Karen Reed didn’t come to LifeStyles looking for recognition.
She came because she saw a need — and knew she could help.
Today, she’s one of our most dedicated volunteers, quietly shaping the lives of others through service that’s consistent, hands-on, and full of heart.
Karen makes the 22-mile drive from Clinton to our La Plata office, where she now averages 14 to 16 volunteer hours each week doing whatever needs to be done — packing food, organizing toiletry bags, distributing produce and diapers, and stepping up wherever the team needs support.
She’s not just part of the process — she’s part of the heartbeat of LifeStyles.
Karen has become someone staff and clients alike look forward to seeing. Her presence is calming, her work ethic inspiring and her care for others genuine.
Whether she’s sorting donations or making deliveries to one of our shelters, she leads with humility and purpose.
And beyond her own service, Karen has brought others into the fold. Over the years, she’s encouraged fellow community members to get involved, many of whom now volunteer regularly at our distribution center. She doesn’t just give her time — she multiplies it by helping others find their own way to give back.
It’s that kind of ripple effect that leaves a lasting impact.
Karen doesn’t ask for attention. She prefers to stay in motion, helping behind the scenes. But her contributions don’t go unnoticed. She’s a steady, compassionate force — the kind of volunteer every organization hopes to have.
Join us in celebrating Karen Reed and the example she sets every day.
And if her story moves you — we’d love to meet you.
We’re always looking for more community members to join our volunteer team.
Whether you have a few hours or a few days a week, your time can make a real impact.
