Some volunteers give their time.
Some give their talents.
And some — like Linda Carney — give it everything they’ve got.
For more than 14 years, Linda has been a dedicated volunteer with LifeStyles, making an incredible impact with our IRS-certified Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. If you’ve ever had your taxes prepared through LifeStyles, there’s a good chance Linda had a hand in making it happen. And if she did, you were in excellent hands.
From scheduling appointments to coordinating sites across Southern Maryland …
From training new volunteers and interns to preparing thousands of tax returns herself …
Linda is woven into every part of the process.
And she’s not just checking boxes.
She’s researching. She’s advocating. She’s fighting for every dollar that rightfully belongs to the people we serve. Because to Linda, it’s not just paperwork—it’s a lifeline. A way to bring dignity and peace of mind to someone who needs it.
Our tax clients know it. That’s why they ask for her by name. Year after year.
Today, Linda serves as the Assistant Site Coordinator for our tax program — a role that perfectly suits her diligence, expertise and heart for service. But her commitment doesn’t stop when tax season ends.
Linda is here all year long.
Helping with holiday baskets and toy drives.
Supporting homeless outreach efforts.
Pitching in at the distribution center whenever she’s needed.
She doesn’t ask for praise. She simply shows up — again and again — with the same spirit and drive that makes her an irreplaceable part of the LifeStyles family.
So today, we say thank you.
Thank you, Linda, for your leadership, your compassion and your dedication. We’re proud to work alongside you. And we’re honored to celebrate your amazing efforts.
You are a shining example of selflessness and service.
To everyone reading this — if you’ve ever wanted to make a difference, let Linda be your inspiration.
There’s a place for you here.
Just like there is for Linda.
